Foreign students are welcome to the Belarusian State Technological University.
The University admits foreign citizens, having the background education corresponding to the level of general secondary education in Belarus. Besides, BSTU admits individuals having the Bachelor degree to Master Courses. Those foreign citizens who have got a higher education on the level of Master of Sciences and experience of work in their speciality are admitted as Post-graduate-students. Foreign students having a higher education on the level of Master of Sciences and having a command of the language of instruction can be assigned to BSTU as applicants for the scientific Doctoral studies (Ph.D.), and those who have a Ph.D. degree may pursue a Doctor of Science degree (D.Sc.) in order to prepare a thesis under the guidance of a scientific supervisor.
There is a Dean’s Office for Foreign Students at the University. It was opened on September 9, 1981 to train qualified engineers for foreign countries. First 17 foreign specialists graduated from the University in 1984. Over the years of its work the University has trained more than 500 specialists.
Residents of Central and South America, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Syria, Libya, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Ghana, China, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other countries study at the BSTU.
The following training opportunities are offered for foreign citizens:
- Russian language courses (long-term and short-term);
- Pre-University training course;
- Graduate courses;
- Master course;
- Post-graduate course.
How to Get an Invitation from BSTU
In order to get an official invitation for any training opportunity a foreign citizen must take the following steps:
Step 1 – preparing and sending application materials required (see Admission requirements);
Step 2 – receiving an Acceptance Letter / Invitation Letter after application materials are being reviewed by the BSTU Dean’s Office for Foreign Students;
Step 3 – getting a Student Visa at the Belarusian Consulate in the applicant’s home country and travelling to Belarus (if visa is needed);
Step 4 – contacting the BSTU or representative prior to arrival to arrange airport pick-up service and dormitory placement.
Russian Language Courses
At the initial stage of their studying at the University foreign learners having no command of Russian are invited to attend the Russian language courses.
The term of studies comprises 10 months (644 academic hours) for long-term courses and 6 months (444 academic hours) for short-term courses. Long-term courses run from October 1 to June 30. Short-term courses run from November 1 to May 1 and from January 1 to June 30. Students have 4 academic hours of Russian a day. On Saturdays and Sundays they have their days off.
The tuition fee comprises 1,200 USD for long-term courses and 700 USD for short-term courses.
The Russian language courses help foreigners to use Russian in everyday situations and discover new things about world culture and acquire cultural background information. The lessons are given by highly qualified Russian language teachers.
Upon finishing the courses the students are issued a certificate of graduation. Students having a university degree have the right to enter higher schools in both Belarus and Russia. Those without a university degree may apply for a pre-university training course in both Belarus and Russia.
Admission requirements

2) Notarized copies of certificate on Completed secondary education / Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree
3) Notarized copy of standard medical certificate issued by the official health care agency in the applicant’s home country
4) Copy of passport valid for the entire study period
Pre-University Training Course
Foreign learners are invited to join Pre-University Department for Foreign Students. The term comprises 10 months.
The curriculum includes the following disciplines:
- Russian (840 academic hours);
- Mathematics (144 academic hours);
- Chemistry (144 academic hours);
- Physics (96 academic hours);
- Informatics (96 academic hours);
- Engineering Drawing (48 academic hours).
All disciplines except Russian are eligible by the applicants (at least 2 disciplines must be selected).
The classes run annually from October 1 to June 30. The lessons are given by highly qualified teachers. Upon finishing the course the students are issued a certificate of graduation which gives them the right to enter higher schools in both Belarus and Russia.
The tuition fee comprises 1,350-1,450USD.

Graduate Courses
Foreign students who have completed the pre-university course may apply for graduate course at all faculties and specialities of the University.
Those with a good command of Russian may be admitted through the interview in relevant subjects (mathematics and chemistry / mathematics and physics).
Foreign students attend all classes together with native students. They also have an additional training course in Russian (4 classes a week). The classes start on September 1.
The tuition fee comprises 1,900 – 2,000 USD.

Master Course
Foreign citizens with a university degree may apply for a Master degree course at all specialities of BSTU. Non-Russian speakers have to complete the Russian language courses. Those with a good command of Russian are admitted through the interview with a prospective scientific supervisor in relevant subjects.
The classes start on September 1. The course of study lasts 2 years. Foreign citizens who have completed a graduate course at a Belarusian university study one year only. Teaching process is carried out according to individual curriculum and is agreed upon with the Academic Department of BSTU.
The tuition fee varies depending on the number of subjects and qualification of teaching staff but does not exceed 2,600 USD.

Post-Graduate Course
Foreign citizens having master degree and showing research abilities can apply for full-time or part-time post-graduate course. Non-Russian speakers have to complete the Russian language courses. Those with a good command of Russian are admitted through the interview with a prospective scientific supervisor in relevant subjects. The subject of thesis is agreed upon with a scientific supervisor.
The classes start on November 1. The course of study lasts 3 years for full-time course and 4 years for part-time course.
The tuition fee comprises 2,800 – 3,000 USD per year.
